Hi guys and girls.
Been looking into buying a FW tropical aquarium.
I can either buy a tank for my drawers (should support a bit of weight) or buy one with a stand already. I was nothing less than around 60Li. Please recommend a tank and a good website (UK) to purchase from.

I wouldn't recommend putting one on anything other than a stand it is supplied with. Tanks that are full can weigh an awful lot, especially considering that every litre of water roughly weighs 1kg. Most local pet stores will sell tanks with stands. The best idea is to go and look at some tanks and stands in your local pet stores so that you can get a proper idea of the size of them. Once you have decided on one design/a few designs then head home and get google up and running. Do a price check on the selected tanks and order from the cheapest place. I bought a Fluval Vicenza 260 limited edition which retails for £650 for £480 a few months back from www.petplanet.co.uk. Sites i would recommend for looking at are

www.charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk

www.fishandfins.co.uk

www.ukpetsupplies.co.uk

I have used all the above and have no complaints. I would avoid pet planet if possible, i only used them because the deal was so good but the customer service is useless.

Once you have the cheapest price then you have two options, either buy it there and then, or my personal favourite, head back to the local store, tell them you can get it cheaper elsewhere and see what they are prepared to do to the price/bundled items!

I can personally recommend the Fluval tanks for a larger tank. But for around 60l and for a beginner ( assuming you are!! ) you could do a lot worse than a Bi-orb. Again shop around but the main site is www.reef-one.co.uk. They are very simple to maintain and go up to a size of 60 litres. Both me and some of my friends have/have had them and i can recommend them, i had a 35l as my first tropical tank!

I don't know the UK at all. I just wanted to mention that Tropical Aquariums and Freshwater Aquariums are completely different. Tropical tanks are heated and Freshwater are not.

First tanks should not be in direct sunlight 2nd lights should not be on longer than 4-6 hours an afternoon 0.33, don't have lights on all day and all evening fourth fish prefer day and evening cycles. 5th turn lights on comparable time and turn of comparable time each and on a daily basis. For the subsequent 4 days turn off the lights. the organic sunlight is adequate for them incredibly the lights are in simple terms for us to work out their attractiveness. turning off the lights will discourage the algae boom, as algae relies upon on mild to enhance. Algae is properly the sign of a healthful tank and is amazingly organic. the priority is we human beings prefer tanks yet no algae. we a technique or the different have been knowledgeable to think of algae is undesirable. it incredibly is in simple terms undesirable while the tank is over run with it. i does no longer advise chemicals interior the water. Filters do no longer administration algae boom Algae is sturdy organic food for all fish and is no longer grimy. some human beings leave one panel with algae so the fish could have their algae snacks.

i would reccomend craigslist. http://london.craigslist.co.uk/search/?areaID=24&subAreaID=&query=fish+tank&catAbbreviation=sss here is a link if you type in fish tank and here is one if you type in aquarium http://london.craigslist.co.uk/search/sss?query=aquarium&catAbbreviation=sss&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max there arent a whole lot to choose from but buying a tank on craigslist can always save you a ton rather than buying one from a petstore. oh and i would go with one that comes with a stand, cause putting one on a piece of furniture you already have can be risky. hope i helped :)

You can look for websites, or you can take a trip to your local fish store and see what they have to offer there. Here are a few thing to look at.

I recommend anywhere from 60-80l for beginners.

Here's one for sale that might be in your area.
