i was thinking about either upgrading my community tank or getting a discus tank. i was wondering are discus as hard to care for as some people say? i've heard that they need almost perfect water conditions to survive, and they need to be fed speciality foods and stuff. do they need all this stuff? i was also wondering if i did get discus would i be able to move my community tanks fish into the larger aquarium? i have 2 balloon mollies, 2 guppies, 1 red tail shark, 2 scissortail rasboras, 2 regular angelfish, and a smaller sized pleco.

a million. great discus would nicely be about 8 inches in diameter. i have considered some even larger than that (9-10 inches), yet not very many. 2. It relies upon on what number discus you want to save, yet you would possibly want to save a pair in a tank that length. they could favor to be a mated pair, or it really is difficulty-free to bully the different too a lot. the well-known downside to that tank might want to be the low suitable. Discus are tall, as fish move, and they are happier in tanks a minimum of 18 to 24 inches tall. 3. maximum discus will eat tropical fish flake ingredients, yet particular discus ingredients (there are various manufacturers obtainable) blended with frozen or stay ingredients can be a extra ideal discus weight-loss plan. a straightforward type of discus keepers i comprehend make their own ingredients, because they are fussy about what they feed their discus. 4. usually, discus would nicely be saved with different fish that are adapted to the mushy, rather acid, warmth water that discus favor, and that are literally not aggressive sufficient to damage the discus. Cardinal tetras and rummy-nostril tetras are 2 of the most difficulty-free possibilities. different cichlids are literally not the superb determination, except in an rather great tank, because they are extra probable to get into fights with the discus. notwithstanding, it really is great, in accordance to each and every of the discus fans i comprehend, to save discus in a discus-in undemanding words tank. probable the biggest clarification for that's that discus have susceptible immune platforms, and different fish species are probable to introduce pathogens that would kill the discus, although in the adventure that they don't damage the different fish.

Discus are schooling fish, they can grow to 15 inches, they need to be in groups, they need pristine water conditions, very low Ph, water at 92 degrees. 3-7 water changes a week. A 90 gallon is the minimum tank size.
