Ignoring the temp differences of they supposedly acquire as I've known plecos to live in waters as cold as 30 degrees Farenheit. And I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank with a pleco inside of it. Yes. Just a pleco. Not one of those giant ones either. Like those ones you see at walmart. I really want to put my axie with it because right now he's in a 30 gallon tubaware bin, and he loves to swim around, so I want to give him as much room as possible. He's only like 5 inches now. My pleco literally does nothing. He stays in one corner of the tank just sucking on the driftwood.

Also, I don't know what kind of pleco it is. I got it from some shady pet store. It's light brownish with light dots around it. Basically it's like those blacks ones, but with a light brown tint.

The problem you would be faced with is pleco like to suck the slime coat so that would be a risk and it would eventually kill the axolotl

Well the pleco may suck on the axolotl & kill it, & the axolotl could take a bite out of the pleco (or at least the pleco's tail- plecos are REALLY tough). You could try it, but be prepared for the worst. I have one tank where I have a breeding population of African cichlids in with turtles, and another tank where the turtles won't tolerate pet fish (I stock both tanks with feeders as well). Some things that work for one person or tank don't work for another person or tank in the same situation. I probably won't try it because its too risky. If you do monitor it closely & separate if there is aggression. Also your pleco likely IS a big pleco. It's just a baby. 90 percent or so of the plecos you see are baby "common plecos" (a few types of standard size plecos). If you don't know what you have and it came from a shady place that is probably what you have. It will get big if it lives long enough. "Dwarf Plecos" (Again, a few species) stay small and like wood so maybe you got lucky.

If it fits in the axolotls mouth, he'll eat it

But pleco's live in the amazon, among discusses, tetra's and angelfish, they do live in warm waters...

The pleco could also be a problem, he could suck on the axolotl, though I never had a problem with any pleco sucking on a fish, but yeah, fish move, axolotls not that much

Probably find that the pleco will suck the skin of the Axo, and eventually kill it. They will do this to any large slow moving tank mates, like fancy goldfish, Birchir or frogs, so they are likely to do it to an Axo as well.
