My Betta fish (Earl) and my African Dwarf Frog (Tilly), are cohabitating nicely in their tank. My Betta is quite amused by how Tilly goes up for air then dives back down. The betta is not harming the ADF and both seem really healthy. However, I am having a difficult time feeding my African Dwarf Frog. It was the first time I purchased Frozen Blood worms and found it very difficult to manage since it was so messy in the tank. For the first few weeks, she refused to eat anything (I even used tweezers and wiggled the worms in front of her), whereas it was the first time my Betta had eaten frozen bloodworms (I usually feed him freeze dried bloodworms, daphnia, and mysis) and just gobbles everything up. Now everytime I place a glove inside the tank my betta fish guards the frog cause he knows he's going to get bloodworms. Luckily, she ate some and I was happy (even though every single time she gobbled something up she'd hide somewhere and I have to go find her to feed her some more).

However, she is not adapting too nicely to the tweezers method, and I don't have the patience to always try to force her to eat. Therefore, I purchased tadpole pellets (really tiny) for her to eat (HB something). I took some out and got the smallest ones (because Tilly is really small), and left it in a small container I had in the tank so she'd know where to find it when she's scavenging. I placed sixed in there the first time, and when I came back 8 hrs later, only three remained. I was happy because I thought she had eaten it. I took out the ones she didn't eat.

Today, when I placed three more small Tadpole pellets, my betta was attracted to the movement of it going down... and ate it. When he pecked at the other one, he left it alone... what's going on? Had my betta been eating the tadpole pellets all this time? And has my ADF been starving all of this time? Will my betta get sick from eating tadpole pellets? He eats everything I put in his tank its crazy!

Help me please, what can I do to make her eat? And how can i stop my betta from eating them?

Target feed them. Put one on one side and the ADF on the other, and feed them separately.

Hmm. Since we know our Bettas will eat until they bust it seems unlikely that if he was the one who discovered the pellets then only ate 3, but who knows. He did only eat one the next time. That would be good news for you if he doesn't like them. I don't know if him eating the pellets will harm him.

I have been scooping my Betta in to a breeder box while I feed the frogs. He's use to this and doesn't stress, and I only feed them every 3rd day. I leave the pellets for about a half an hour, then siphon up what they don't eat in a turkey baster.

The turkey baster is useful for target feeding bloodworms too.

I hope you can get this worked out in a way that works for you. Bloodworms are ok as a treat but they bloat the frogs horribly.

It is a challenge having both frogs and fish in the same tank. The arrangement works for me but you may want to consider putting them in different tanks. Not necessarily ideal maybe, but everyone would get fed.

It many times skill he's a choosy eater. between the female bettas i'm making use of to prep a tank does this continuously. (i'm over feeding a good bit to bounce initiate the nitrogen cycle greater right now, and making use of the betta as they greater incredibly tolerate the united statesand downs of of latest tank water chemistry.) She additionally does an identical ingredient with algae flaks for the tanks bullnosed pleco. in case you replaced meals on him you may attempt going back to what you have been making use of before. Like sensible you may attempt various his weight loss software somewhat if he's been getting the same old ingredient for an prolonged time. you may desire to objective a manage like bloodworms or something. This has a tendency to ruin your betta, and a few human beings declare unproccessed nutrition has an larger danger of ailment. (i don't use something different than flakes, pellets, and ants myself as a results of cost.) for my section I do exactly not feed the betta for an afternoon or 2 if it is different sensible performing healthful. purely understand that a lot of human beings over feed their bettas. (i comprehend I certainly tend to place too plenty nutrition in.) it would desire to not be hungry. playstation - verify what's in the nutrition. it would checklist shrimp, insect, worms, or fish on the luxurious of the checklist. Plant based flakes are not sturdy for him as a conventional nutrition source. (till he's calling bloated.)
