i currently have a rope fish, that is on the smaller size that has been living well in a 5 gallon tank. I recently came across a violet goby which is about the same size or possibly smaller then my rope fish. would this be a good combination? and if i did do this what are my chances of them fighting?

*also i heard that they do get infections if the water isnt muddy enough, is this true? and will it hurt my rope?

*if someone can answer all these questions you'd be my hero..

5 gal tank is too small for either species alone. The Rope fish will be 3 ft at adult size this is bigger than your tank. The two species (in a bigger tank) will do fine together. I know of 2 tanks that have them both in them at adult size. The tale of the muddy water is not true. Actually the cleaner your water the less likely they will get infections. But remember both species are good jumpers and have to breathe surface air.

you may not do brackish with plecos as others have mentioned. i might say a 20 gallon is slightly on the small ingredient for the Violet Goby, they get extraordinarily long, usually over 10"-12", in the wild they are in a position to stand as much as around 24"!! they elect a sand substrate, brackish circumstances and suited water high quality besides as profiting from objective feeding - keep offered fish are frequently ravenous. This fish may well be extra useful off in a bigger tank, around fifty 5 gallons or so.

Dragon Gobies need a twenty gallon tank minimum and can grow to be a foot or longer. They do not require muddy water, just add some aquarium salt to your water along with the water conditioner whenever you change the water.

Well gobys are brackish water fish which means they live in the ocean near a mouth of a river. i have never personally heard of a rope fish so u are on ur own there. plus i dont think that would be a big enough tank for them.

HORRIBLE idea.

dragon gobys get bigger than a 5 gallon tank, and cannot live long in full freshwater.

The rope needs a bigger tank ASAP.
