Is it illegal to hunt octopuses?

i just listened to octopus's garden by the beatles and i want to know if its legal to hunt them. I don't want to it was just a random thought i had

If you take a interest in octopus, beware of the blue-ringed octopus, it's generally small and very deadly.

I'd think no because pepole eat them alot and inorder to eat them you have to hunt them, you may have to have some sort of permit though.
