are API products good?

Question

im trying to find the best products to use for my fish tank. Tetra is what came in my aquarium. But i was recommended at petco to use API products. I was wondering what everyone thought of those or if you have an better suggestions of what to use (i got the orange color out of m tank, you know what im talkin bout if u read my last question...but im happy now=])

It depends on the product in question. API makes arguably the best test kits on the market, and have a solid line of water conditioners and medications as well. On the other land, their pH adjusters and plant care products are jokes. If you want to choose the best products for your aquarium, you cannot stick with just one company.

I think that API is the best brand out there for medication, water treatment / conditioning and the test kits. On the other hand, I think that Tetra is the best for food. Overall, I recommend API

API is a decent brand. It is popular because 1) it is usually carried locally so is easy to find, and 2) they are reasonably priced. Tetra isn't a terrible brand or anything and there is nothing wrong with using tetra.



SeaChem is my favorite brand for most things, especially water treatments and medications.



I actually like the Red Sea test kits better than the API test kits (too simple) or SeaChem test kits (too complex). But API works well and is a reliable test kit.



PetCo carries a lot of API, it is not surprising they would recommend it.



I am not a fan of Marineland products, most their parts are cheaply made and fail over time.

All in all, API is an excellent brand! You really can't go wrong with anything they make. Although the post above me is totally right. It depends on what you are using them for. API as far as I know doesn't make anything for plant care, or fish food. They are more strictly fish medications. Tetra makes really good fish food, as well as top-fin. But when it comes to food, it's really all the same. I use aqueon fish flakes as one source of food and my fish love em! For things like aquarium supplies such as filters, tank kits, lighting, the tank itself, cleaning supplies, decorations etc, etc. Marine-land and Top fin are probably the top dogs. Although I'm a bit more partial to Marine-land just because I've found everything marine-land I have is awesome! Their Bio-wheel filters are incredible in my opinion!



But i'm getting off topic!



Yes API is a fantastic brand for fish pharmaceutics and medications! Whenever my fish are sick, and require medication I always go with API and I have never lost a fish due to illness! I also use API aquarium salt! Which some people don't recommended but It really is an amazing thing! Since using it I have never had another fish disease pop up in my tank!

it depends what it is because some product brands are good at some things, and some brands are good at other things. API has a good master test kit that is very popular. seachem has good products also specifically for plants. tetra has good food products. It all depends.
