First off which type of whale...? lol and why... (picturing someone having a whale in their backyard...) blue whales live 35-40 years, sperm whales can go 75+ years, humpback whales can live to around 40 years, and grey whales live from 30-40 years. i would go to this site if this doesn't help ^^

About 80 to 100 years. The oldest known whale

lived to be about 115 years old, and scientists have some evidence that bowhead whales may live to be 200!
