Pet stores, even ones that know you, are unlikely to buy from you. They will have contracts with wholesalers and are often just plain not allowed to exchange money for homebred fish. They may well trade you store credit for the fish though. £5 for a pair is a rip off!! I think I paid £20 for a group of 8-10 straight from a breeder. That, and with all livebearers, they shouldn't be in male/female pairs but in a ratio of 2-3 females per male.

If you want to sell them sell them through:

http://www.endlersr.us/

or

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk

edit: There was a UK Endlersrus but it got hacked, some UKers may be lurking on the US site though, or at least have links to the breeders in the UK. Practical Fishkeeping has it's UK-based forum and the magazine itself can usually be found in larger WHSmiths or Borders.

You'll have to ask at the shop.

They may have more Endler's than they can sell already, or they may want all they can get.

Some stores (especially the big chains) don't buy from individuals at all, but others do, especially if you're a loyal customer.

Some don't pay cash, but will give you store credit when you bring in fish to trade.

Assuming they will by your fish or swap from them, you should expect to be offered the wholesale value of your fish, not the full retail price. This is generally less than half of what the store charges customers for fish. It has to be that way, because dealing in livestock, they have high overhead costs and a lot of losses.

Highly unlikely they will buy them but more likely to exchange the fish for credit toward other purchases. If you live in the States each state requirements are different with regards to ornamental fish. WVA, OH and PA are all allowed to buy fish but most stores won't they will trade, and you are better off finding a mom and pop store vs. a chain store.

If you paid 7.40 chances are their suppliers sold them to the shop for around 3.50 (about 1/2 or less the price). Really I wouldn't expect money. They will have to show you as a distributor with money going out. Licenses are required to "supply" fish in some areas.

Good luck
