This tank is a present I got from the questions I have asked so far this tank seems pretty dodgy. It holds 3.4 litres (0.89 gallons)of water its 24cm (9 inches) in length, 15cm (5 inches) in width and 22.7cm (8 inches) in height. It has a hand pumped filter which means I use my hand to pump the water up from my tank into a sponge filter. I manually pump air into the tank through a airstone. There is no heater.

no. a guppy will die if you so this. what is the point of the air pump, any ways, because the only way it would help a fish is if it was being pumped every minute, every day. try a male betta. that's even pushing it.

you would also have to pump the filter every minute of every day. this is a joke. return it and buy yourself a real tank, about 10 gallons, with a heater and a filter, and then try to get a few guppies for it.

Quite honestly, a 3.4 litre is only suitable for a single male betta. Many would tell you that a betta needs a heater and a minimum 19 litre tank. Personally, I would not keep any fish, snail or invert in such a tiny container.

Guppies are tropical fish, so you would need a heater. Your tank is entirely too small for even a single guppy. These fish are diminutive in size. Males reach sizes up to 3.8cm and females can grow to 5cm. However, fish need plenty of room to swim and 38 litres is the minimum tank size recommended.

I would recommend exchanging the tank for a store credit and getting a 38l tank. With a heater you could keep 5-7 guppies.

In a word NO! I wouldnt keep any kind fish in that. Its far too small to keep any fish healthy. You would need to be hand pumping the filter and air pump 24:7:365 to even give it a chance. Would you like to live in your own faeces!

A guppy would also need a heater.

The member going by the name "Finatic" is 100% correct. Apparently she offended a couple with the suggestion of returning the present as that is the only feasible reason for her receiving two thumbs down. Her breach of etiquette, however, is in the best interest of all aquatic creatures.

I would agree with finatic guppies need to be warm i would get a bigger tank or just turn that one into a plant tank with one small betta other than that your options are limited

A...i say A guppy maybe..but the filter does look dodgy. Although if its sold in a box i guess it should be ok..but A single guppy only ok??

Also guppys really should have heaters if your temp gets fairly cold during winters..

guppies like heated tanks.... so if it isnt then no they will die...u can however buy the stuff to heat ur tank and buy a proper filter this will help clean ur tank and pump in air bubbles..
